This area, known as the Magdalena Valley, offers a rich diversity in elevation, climate, and harvest cycles, making it one of Colombia’s most distinctive coffee-growing regions.

What truly defines Huila’s coffee is the dedication of its people. Though the region contributes nearly 20% of Colombia’s total coffee output, 80% of its farmers work on small plots of less than three hectares, ensuring each bean is cultivated with care and expertise.

These beans are unroasted and ready for home roasting, giving you full control over your flavor profile. They’ve been decaffeinated using a natural method involving ethyl acetate (E.A.), a compound found in fruits like bananas and produced during sugar fermentation. Here’s how it works:

• The beans are first steamed under low pressure to open their pores.
• They’re then soaked in a water and ethyl acetate solution, where the E.A. bonds with caffeine molecules and gently removes them.
• This process is repeated over eight hours, with the solution refreshed until no caffeine remains.
• Finally, the beans are steamed again to remove any residual E.A., which is only harmful in extremely high concentrations (far above any trace amounts left in the beans).
• The beans are then dried and polished, ready for export and your personal roasting journey.
