Your MNFood.Club order is picked by our local foodie team members. Just like you, we care about building a better food system and know the grocery system is broken.
We will never have a gig worker rushing through your grocery shopping or asking for tips!
Your items are protected in insulated (and reusable) packages and delivered right to your door or mail-room.
You do not need to be home to get your delivery.
- There is no better way to source your local food than to buy directly from independent farmers and food makers.
When you buy from MNFood.Club, you know that your grocery delivery is actually from the farm you ordered from and raised how they say it is. This is simply not the case in the grocery store.
A local farmer who says their chickens are raised on green pasture simply does a better job than even the more expensive grocery "pasture-raised" birds.
In fact, the next slide is an image from one of those grocery store "pasture-raised" egg barns.
Grocery eggs use synthetic colorants to darken the yolks so that the eggs appear to actually be raised outside, when the hens never actually leave the crowded barn.
Orange yolks does NOT mean they birds were outside. Don't let the grocery trick you into paying extra for eggs from regular confinement birds.
You can see these "Pasture-raised" birds appear healthy, have great feathers, and by all accounts are well cared for.
However, if you are paying for 'pasture-raised' eggs or chicken in the grocery store, you are not likely to get what you are paying for.
The reason that even the best local-focused grocery store can't do better than this is because they are obligated to buy 90-95% of their items from big distributors AND the stores have no physical room for more than a day's worth of storage.A farmer can't drop off their better raised eggs or tomatoes every single day to every single local store.
The grocery store distributors avoid better raised items and are actively consolidating production out of state or to mega-operations. This leaves even the best-intended grocery stores no way to 'do better'. Sadly, they are forced to go the wrong direction.
Local farmers physically and contractually can't supply a meaningful amount of food to any grocery store.
It is impossible to get the same quality food at a grocery store than you could get from a farmer.
But together we can change the system and even help those like-minded stores do better too!
Independent farmers struggle with the opposite problem as the grocery stores trying to do better:
Farmers have better food, but when they work alone, they only can offer a small number of items.
Somehow, they are expected to pay for their farm and family's basic needs by delivering $40 veggie boxes or chicken and eggs or whatever items they raise.
This isn't realistic and that cost of driving around all over the place to deliver their better raised food artificially increases the cost of that food and makes the farming lifestyle unbearable.
8% of independent direct to consumer farmers quit every year because of these limitations.
When you switch and make your grocery purchases from your farmer, you directly lower the cost of better raised food because their veggies and chickens no longer has to pay for the full cost of the farmers' and food makers' businesses.
When MNFood.Club delivers all your grocery and ready-to-eat meal items along with the better raised local food, you get a better service and the farmer shares in revenue from those 'extra' items that you need anyhow.
The more you view your local farmers and food makers as your grocer, the stronger the local food system becomes.
Help us create this better system that is simultaneously aspirational and is happening right now in Minnesota!
