MEET THE MAKERS

Kristin & Josh Mohagen

We're parents, makers, and lifelong chocolate eaters who started Sted out of a shared curiosity and a desire to make something meaningful by hand. Kristin's background in pastry led her to chocolate as a craft that rewards patience and care. Josh's appreciation for food and place was shaped by years living abroad — from communal cooking in Cameroon to time in the French Alps. Today those experiences come together in every bar we make, small-batch and slowly, in a workshop among Minnesota's lakes.

USDA ORGANIC CERTIFIED

Every ingredient; cacao, dairy, honey, nuts, and spices, is certified organic. Sted is a fully certified organic production facility.



FAIR TRADE CACAO

Cacao comes from Rizek Cacao in the Dominican Republic, which supports 6,000 farmers through the FUPAROCA Foundation, fair wages, land preservation, and community development.

SMALL-BATCH PROCESS

Every bar is made in small batches by hand in Fergus Falls. The pace is intentional, patience is part of how good chocolate is made.



LOCAL INGREDIENTS

Where possible, Sted works with Minnesota sources, including locally tapped maple syrup that's central to their Maple Toffee bar, a family tradition turned signature flavor.



REGENERATIVE VISION

Sted prioritizes organic sourcing today with a longer goal of sourcing regenerative organic ingredients as the company grows.




FLAVOR AS PLACE

Each bar is designed to carry the character of its ingredients' origins, from single-origin cacao to local honey and lavender. Flavors: Almond Maple Brittle, Golden Milk, Mint Mocha, French Grey Sea Salt, Honey Lavender.
