Lee and Mary grew up on farms in Wisconsin and Minnesota — and both swore they'd never go back to farming. Then Lee discovered bison, and everything changed. In October 1994, they bought their first two bison — Billy and Sarah — and started something they never planned to stop.
Today Northstar spans thousands of acres of owned and leased land, a family-run processing facility, and a network of like-minded ranchers who share their commitment to raising animals the way nature intended. Their daughter Marielle is now part of the management team, carrying on what Lee and Mary built from two bison and a whole lot of conviction.
